From Salt Room to Surgical Suite

DESIGN TALK

Pria Rajput
Repositioning + Creative Strategist

In the world of interior design, few projects offer the perfect intersection of form, function, and identity. When tasked with reimagining a dated cosmetic clinic, Pria Rajput, Creative Director and Repositioning Strategist, saw beyond the millwork and outdated finishes, instead seeing the bones of a brand ready for reinvention. In this Q&A, Pria shares the story of how a once-disjointed space, complete with a defunct salt room and a bulky reception area, was transformed into a seamless, modern clinic that reflects its true essence.

It brought together everything I love, healthcare functionality, small-space problem solving, and brand transformation. My background is in institutional and clinical design, but through our studio, we also help businesses reposition their brand through interior strategy. This project wasn’t just a redesign, it was a complete reintroduction of the clinic’s identity.

PRIA:

What made this cosmetic clinic project stand out to you?

KIA:

It was dated and disjointed, with leftover millwork, a salt room, and a bulky reception desk. But I saw an opportunity. We didn’t gut everything; we strategically stripped what no longer worked, salvaged what had potential, and layered in new elements to bring it all together.

PRIA:

What did the original space look like?

KIA:

Yes! We completely stripped the salt room and turned it into a discreet cosmetic injection suite. It’s now hidden in plain sight and blends seamlessly into the flow of the clinic. It’s one of those transformations that really changed how the space is experienced.

PRIA:

That salt room became something else, right?

KIA:

Every detail mattered. We designed custom millwork to conceal glove boxes, trash, PPE, so the space stays clutter-free and compliant without looking clinical. Limewashed walls brought softness and depth, while the refinished reception desk became a brand moment in itself. It’s where form, function, and identity meet.

PRIA:

How did you balance clinical function with clean aesthetics?

KIA:

That we transformed the space without relying on excess, just clarity, intention, and smart design. When the client told me, “This finally feels like us,” I knew we nailed it. That’s the kind of repositioning that lasts.

PRIA:

“This clinic had to function like a medical space, but feel nothing like one.”

KIA:

What’s your proudest takeaway from this project?

This project serves as a reminder that great design is never just about aesthetics; it's about alignment. For Black Label Designs, the greatest success wasn’t the visual overhaul, but the client’s recognition that the space finally felt like them. Through smart spatial strategies and intentional choices, this clinic’s transformation demonstrates the power of design not only to beautify but to reposition, a testament to interiors as an evolving expression of identity.
