The transformation of Firefly Restaurant by Pria Rajput and the BLD Collective is a prime example of how innovative design can revitalize a business. The reinvention of Firefly Restaurant did not go unnoticed. It quickly became an Edmonton hotspot, combining dining, botany, and music into one dynamic space.
Challenge
Firefly's interior required a complete overhaul to transition from its previous traditional setup to a vibrant, contemporary space that encouraged social interaction and offered distinctive experiences within the restaurant.

Vision:
The design sought to create an environment that resonated with organic modernism, incorporating elements inspired by nature while blending with sleek, contemporary lines. The goal was to craft a visually striking interior promoting social media engagement and provide a variety of atmospheres, from casual dining to exclusive, high-energy social areas.

The reinvention of Firefly Restaurant did not go unnoticed. It quickly became an Edmonton hotspot, combining dining, botany, and music into one dynamic space. Notable impacts include:
  • Social Media Buzz: The restaurant's design elements fostered a significant social media presence, with patrons sharing their experiences online, effectively becoming brand ambassadors.
  • Enhanced Customer Experience: Each tailored area within the restaurant cultivated unique dining and social experiences, enlarging the customer base and improving retention.
  • Botanical Wellness: By incorporating living plants into the design, the Botany Division contributed to an improved atmosphere enriched with natural oxygenation and a serene ambiance.

The restaurant interior was divided into distinct zones:
  • Speak-Easy Area: Tucked away and designed with subtle entrances for exclusivity, the speak-easy boasted rich leathers and dark woods for an intimate atmosphere.
  • VIP Seating: To offer a heightened dining experience, VIP areas were designed with luxurious furnishings and privacy features, without isolating guests from the restaurant's ambiance.
  • DJ Area: The DJ booth was a focal point, built with acoustics in mind without overshadowing the dining experience, carefully integrating sound design with spatial aesthetics.

“Transformation isn’t just visual,  it’s operational, emotional, and experiential.”
